Etienne Kalilwa is a second generation Tailor who grew up in the DR Congo, Etienne started sewing at the tender age of 12 learning his trade from his parents who were both talented and qualified tailors specialising in both menswear and womenswear respectively. His mother taught him useful skills and within a short amount of time he was making clothes without pattern and relying solely on the customers measurements. He also gained experience working with various sewing machines, aswell as balancing his education.

While still in the Congo he developed his own business and continued this for 10 years while in a refugee camp in Zambia. In 2006 he came to the UK with his family and held down various jobs in tailoring and clothing alteration such as Stitch Express before finally getting the opportunity to open his own tailoring business once again in July 2014 called E.K.Stitch!
